The ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) will from next month September 2021 continue with its chiefdom and district executives’ elections countrywide, revealed an election timetable.
According to an election timetable released by the party Secretariat, the dates for the holding of various executive elections that will precede its National Delegates Conference in December 2021, will commence on September 11.
The Satellite Newspaper reports The entire electioneering process including the holding of the party’s National Delegates Conference to elect national officers will last for approximately 4 months.
The election timetable is as follows: Constituency 116 elections in Western Area will take place on 11th September, followed by the Western Area East urban district elections on 18th September and the Western Region elections on 25th September, 2021 at the Regional headquarters.
On 6th November 2021, the Young Generation conference elections will take place in Moymaba Town, whereas the Women’s Leaders elections will take place in Kailahun Town on 13th November 2021, followed by all district’s elections.
The National Executive meeting to confirm delegates’ lists take place in Port Loko city on 17th and 18th December, 2021.
The party’s internal elections started few months back, but was aborted at some point, though 90 percent balloting had been successfully conducted in other areas, due to some internal incongruities.
However, all outstanding issues previously raised in the remaining 10 percent disputed areas had been resolved in the spirit and letter of democracy backed by a formation of a committee to ensure fair level playing field for all the sundry.
