Road users commuting on the Kissy Bypass Old Road Bridge have expressed serious safety concerns regarding the structure, which has long served the community.
Recently, it has been reported that a huge fracture has developed on one side of the bridge, while another section has partially collapsed, raising alarm among local residents.
The old road bridge has become the main entry and exit point for various commercial vehicles, including trucks, kekes, okadas, and podapodas, operating daily from 7 AM to 10 AM. During this time, these vehicles are prohibited from using the new road due to Waka fine regulations, making the bridge vital for local transport.
As the rainy season approaches, community members are increasingly worried about the bridge’s stability and potential hazards. They are calling on the Sierra Leone Roads Safety Authority (SLRSA), and the disaster management team to address the situation urgently. Residents fear that if the issues are not resolved, the bridge could pose a significant danger to commuters and lead to a potential disaster.
Local leaders are urging immediate inspections and repairs to ensure the safety of all road users and to prevent further damage to the bridge.

This bridge is extremely dangerous.
I usually take this route to work because Waka Fine regulations prohibit using the new road in the morning.
Thank you for bringing this to public attention so that the relevant authorities can take immediate action to prevent further damage.
