The Management of Star TV has issued a statement in response to calls for it to be entirely shut down and their CEO to be charged for incitement, following the contents of a programs aired on Saturday 13 August 2022.
This according to a press release issued today, Monday 22 August 2022, Signed by Station Manager, Abdul Rahman Kamara.
The statements reads:
“The attention of Management of Star TV Channel 21 has been drawn to a social media Post titled ‘Shot down Star TV and charge the CEO for incitement ‘.
In response to the above post, Management of Star TV wishes to inform Members of the public that it has distanced itself from the content of whatever emanated from Saturday, 13th August 2022 edition of the program title ‘Tell It to Rachel’, which was linked and aired on Star TV.
The program in question is NOT the content of Star TV, and issues discussed therein do not reflect the position of Star TV.
To steer clear the prevailing unfortunate matter, the Management of Star TV Channel 21 has put on hold the program until further notice. This is in the interest of maintaining peace and tranquility in the country.”
Earlier today, The National Telecommunication Commission of sierra leone (NATCOM) suspended the license of Star Radio and Television to operate and broadcast, following a breach in the license conditions under sections 30 and 65 of the NATCOM Act 2006 (As Amended).
