Sierra Leone’s Statistician General and CEO of Stats SL, Andrew Bob Johnny is all set to represent Sierra Leone at the 55th session of the UN Statistical Commission.
The 55th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission will take place from 27th February to 1st March 2024, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Commission is the highest body in the international statistical system where global statistical standards are considered and approved.
The 55th session of the Commission will discuss, among many others, the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, National Accounts, Demographic and Social Statistics, Population and Housing Censuses, Big Data, Data Science and Data Communication and Dissemination.
The Statistician General, Andrew Bob Johnny, was unanimously elected in April 2023, to represent Sierra Leone on the
UN Statistical Commission for a four-year tenure which started in January 2024.
Andrew Bob Johnny is only the second Statistician General from Sierra Leone to ever sit on the highest decision making body for Statistics in the world, following on from Prof. Osman Sankoh, who had served a three-year term from 2020-2023 while he was Statistician General.
