Sylvia Blyden has responded to remarks from many Sierra Leoneans questioning the Nationality of the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, H.E Fatima Bio.
In her write-up she maintained that, the first lady is a native of Sierra Leone who grew up in Kono district and Freetown respectively and apart from that, she has strong ancestral roots in all the three geo-social regions of Sierra Leone: South-East, West and North adding that she is not a foreigner. She posted a video of the first lady dancing with other women to a traditional Temne song.
Her statement reads;
‘’H.E. First Lady Fatima Maada Bio is not a foreigner so she is comfortable within any culture or parts of Sierra Leone like shown in this video of her dancing Temne songs with women in Tonkolili District.
When I worked for Gambian Government over 20 years ago, Fatima’s distinctly Sierra Leonean accent in a sea of Gambian accents back then is one of the things that drew me to her.
Interestingly, apart from growing up in Kono & Freetown, H.E. Fatima has strong ancestral roots in all the three geo-social regions of Sierra Leone: South-East, West and North.
Fatima is not a foreigner. She is an outstanding Sierra Leone woman who has contributed immensely to positively change the narrative for Women in Sierra Leone because she is one of us and she understands our issues.
President Bio is NOT married to a foreigner.
However, there is nothing wrong with marrying a foreigner. For example, Zainab Sheriff who did that infamous Video yesterday speaking of {@$$H0L€$} in Holy Month whilst dressed in a HIJAB is married to a nice white foreign gentleman with whom she has a lovely son. They are my next door neighbors and they are a pleasant family.
Bottomline, Fatima is a Sierra Leonean – a very great one too’’. She maintained.
