Popular female politician from the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden OOR has donated the sum of Five Million Leones (Le5,000,000.00) to the APC Executives in Koinadugu District as assistance towards the party’s polling day activities for elections slated for this Saturday October 2nd 2021.
The money was sent last week and a formal handing-over was done today 27th September 2021 on behalf of Dr. Sylvia Blyden by Mr. Kulio Jalloh of the Momoh Konte Foundation alongside a cross section of youths from the Sylvia Blyden Foundation in Koinadugu led by Mr. Lahai F. Jawara.
The National Electoral Commission is conducting two Bye Elections for the seat of Chairman of Koinadugu District Local Council and seat of Ward 155 Local Councillor in the same district. The previous occupants of those elected seats whom had won under the APC party symbol, both passed away earlier this year thus necessitating the two Bye Elections on Saturday.
Dr. Sylvia Blyden is well noted for her regular support to the APC party during Elections. It may be recalled that in 2019, she had sent the same sum of 5 Million Leones to the then Koinadugu District APC chairman late Momoh Konte to support Bye Elections for another Local Council Ward 149 seat in the district; which seat the APC party had won by a landslide of over 70% although the party went on to lose the neighbouring Falaba District Council chairman seat held at the same time back in the year 2019.
The APC Koinadugu District executives have today expressed gratitude to Blyden for the timely financial support she sent.
Dr. Sylvia Blyden herself is currently out of Sierra Leone but she was ably represented today by youths from Momoh Konte Foundation and Sylvia Blyden Foundation in the district.
Only two political parties are contesting the Koinadugu elections on Saturday. The governing SLPP wants to take the two seats previously held by the APC. The APC candidate for the Local Council Chairman seat is Mr. Lawrence Teteh Kargbo and he is running against SLPP’s Alhaji Sheku Koroma.
For the Ward 155 seat, the SLPP is pitching Kalie Thoronka against the APC’s Saio Mamudu Koroma.
Awareness Times Newspaper will bring you the results for the hotly contested elections slated to hold on Saturday October 2nd 2021.
