The Unity Party calls on the High Court to immediately release the written copy of a ruling in its long-running case against the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC).

The party says the case has faced over three years of delays without proper resolution.

The ruling, delivered by Justice Adrian Fisher on May 29, 2025, has not been shared with the Unity Party’s legal team, raising concerns about fairness and transparency in the justice system.

This legal battle began after the Unity Party was excluded from the 2023 general elections a move the party says violated the constitution. Despite filing their case promptly, the Unity Party claims they were never fully allowed to present their arguments in court.

Matron Femi Claudius-Cole, leader of the Unity Party, said the party remains committed to defending the rights of Sierra Leoneans and the rule of law. She called on the court to release the ruling without delay so that everyone can see the full details. She also encouraged the public to support demands for fairness and accountability in the judiciary.

In a June 2023 interview with Sierraeye Magazine, Claudius-Cole spoke about how women-led political parties face deep-rooted challenges in Sierra Leone’s political system. She described how women are often shut out of leadership and decision-making, not just by law, but through cultural norms, lack of support, and institutional bias. The Unity Party believes that this ongoing exclusion now extends into the judiciary.

The Unity Party now says that the continued withholding of the court’s ruling further weakens public trust and risks silencing a key democratic voice.
