Prominent female politician, Femi Claudius Cole has disagreed with a recent ruling by Magistrate Mark Ngegba who imprisoned three for the possession of Kush on various counts of Unlawful Possession of the drug.

The three convicts were Mohamed Osman Bangura, Yeanoh Bangura, and Ibrahim Bangura. The first and second accused were given 1 year and the 3rd accused 2 years.

However, Femi Claudius Cole reacted to this judgement on her Twitter post stating “This is not the solution sir, they are victims, they need rehabilitation and a future! not harsh jail sentences sir. The real criminals are those importing and becoming rich from this poison.
“Temper justice with mercy”Mark Ngegba.”

The politician had once opined that “Arresting and dismissing those caught smoking or selling kush on the street is NOT the solution, but another avenue for corruption. A way for unscrupulous police to make money, and fill the already overcrowded jails.”

She believes the problem must be attacked from the roots. 1st the supply chain, some people are getting insanely wealthy importing and manufacturing kush. It can only be traded and used once it is in the country. So with an economy as battered and broken as ours, folks will auction and sell anything and anyone.

She holds the view that Kush is a massive problem, that needs a well-thought-out solution, that must include more than punitive measures and dismissal. Supply chain disruption, education on its dangers, treatment, rehabilitation and job opportunities must be part of the strategy.”
