The recent visit by USAID representatives to Karene District showcased the significant strides made by the People-to-People Peacebuilding Project.

The event, held in Kamakwie town, brought together key stakeholders, including Peace Ambassadors, members of the Karene Women in Governance and Young Women in Governance (WiGN/YWiGN), inter-religious leaders, and local police.

During the visit, participants highlighted the project’s positive impact on community dynamics, with Peace Ambassadors sharing testimonies of enhanced unity and conflict resolution at the grassroots level. These efforts have contributed to political stability and local development, emphasizing the initiative’s role in mitigating politically motivated violence and fostering dialogue.

A noteworthy moment came from a representative of persons with disabilities, who expressed gratitude for their involvement in the project. Their participation in activities, including a football match, underscored the project’s commitment to inclusivity and equal representation.

USAID’s ongoing support has been crucial to the project’s success, which is not only focused on peacebuilding but also on driving sustainable development in Karene District. The visit reinforced the commitment of the Center for Global Good (CGG) to strengthen peace infrastructure and empower local communities across Sierra Leone.

As the project progresses, CGG remains dedicated to promoting collaboration and ensuring long-term stability in the region. The successful visit marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster peace and development in Sierra Leone.
