Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wang Qing, attended the 119th-anniversary celebrations of Bo School from April 18 to 19, underscoring the strong relationship between the two nations.

The event was also attended by Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Fatima Bio, the Chief Justice, the Chief Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education. Alumni, faculty, students, and community members were also present.

During his address, Ambassador Wang Qing elaborated on the principles and global significance of China’s modernization efforts. He emphasized China’s commitment to national rejuvenation through modernization and its readiness to collaborate with Sierra Leone through President Xi Jinping’s ten major partnership initiatives aimed at fostering common development and strengthening Africa-China cooperation.

A key moment of the celebration was the unveiling of the newly constructed “Beijing Building,” a dormitory for students. This inauguration, jointly performed by President Bio and Ambassador Wang, sparked enthusiastic celebrations among attendees.

Notably, the Beijing Building is the first structure within a Sierra Leonean school to bear the name of a Chinese city and marks the fifth dormitory at Bo School.
