Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, has apologized to the APC and other members at the post-elections dialogue facilitated by the Independent Commission for National Cohesion, calling on others to do the same to the nation.
Sengeh made several references to what the government led by President Bio has done to have the lives of Sierra Leoneans upgraded. He maintained that they were not forced to attend the dialogue rather it was based on the President’s perception and belief in democratic principles as well as enhancing a better change in the country which created a way for active participation in the dialogue, adding that, the government believes the fact that governance cannot proceed peacefully without an active, credible and responsible opposition.
“We are not here because we have been forced to, we are here because we chose to and we are here because of our commitment to national development and peace, we are here because the father of democracy, Dr. Julius Maada Bio asked us to be here.” he said.
The Chief Minister maintained that every party has to play according to its mandate to ensure peace and national cohesion. He invited the opposition to take up their responsibility in the governance system.
He appealed to all present to look forward to possible outcomes as he apologized for what they might have done and asked others to do same to maintain a sustainable peace.
“I appreciate that we all have said things that will make the other person turn away, and where we have, we are sorry,” he said, adding that he hopes that other parties and members can take responsibilities for things they may have said to get the country to this state.
He maintained that being reflective is not a position of weakness but a commitment which they have taken to see that the country moves forward.
Watching…
Our honorable chief minister is a hard working and humble servant
Sengeh cannot clear the messes Bio and Konneh have placed in this country
Perfect combination good for the nation, we pray 🙏 that all sierra Leones can take this in to practice as a good sierra Leones no matter which party u belong sierra Leone is bigger than everyone, please brothers and sisters there is no place like home ok.from Noah a Bawoh
Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh, thank you for the love you have for your people, but you know that what has been done can not be undone easly. We pray for the betterment of our country
Una return fos d stolen votes before we accept una apology
That is good 👍 for everyone in mama sierra Leone good talk 🦜 from chief minister keep it up ok
🙆🙆🙆🙆 ahhhh but true hard to say but one day the true go cam
Perfectly said
This apology cannot stand while the mandate or the will of the people is stolen by the ECSL. It is a clear evidence that the SLPP illegitimate government is guilty of the offense to the Sierraleonean people.
Please let us be cleared here what chief minister apologies for
Is it for the rigged 24th June,2023 elections, let him don’t just give us a blanket apology
There will be no development without good relationship between us. Please let us put our country first and all others will follow later..
Opposition in Africa is necessary but we should oppose responsibily
I don’t care about what other people say about the present Chief minister. This guy 👦is a true patriotic citizen of sierra leone 🇸🇱 which has a very high degree of empathy in him.
I really can’t understand the misinterpretation some of you are making here. Because what the chief minister said was so clear and simple to digest! He said both parties has done wrong to each other by saying all sort of words, before”during and after elections. And so for that very reason my apologies to you all from the government side, and also opposition should do the same or any individual that might find himself in such situation.
When you deal with people of less intelligentsia, don’t worry about their contextual misfits and misinterpretation. APC will trump Chief Minister’s apology as one for their ill-conceived perception of tge elections outcome. It is evidenced already. Now they have a card to play to their people…..hmmm.
Wey dem say “Go school en learn”, dem go kek-way en go play gbosh-kiddy en tongir-ballay. This is the results. They read but cannot analyse other though process.
You that is preaching patriotism now, if it was your party that was in opposition in such circumstance hmmmm trust me you will say worst. But now you are good sameritant.
APCians cannot and can never understand simple english.
David Moinina Sengeh do not sweep under the carpet
ECSL are the most corrupted people in Sierra Leone and if we don’t put a stop to this it will continue and will never stop, what is the big deal for you to publish the data?you are working for someone i guess because if you are working for the people of Sierra Leone you should have publish it as asked by us the citizens.
Sierra Leone is a country with no future and for us the young ones we really need to do something if not those old wicked and heartless people will continue ruining our future😭
It’s easy to apologize but it’s not easy to forgive when justice is not served. First before the apology we as Sierra Leoneans want to know the truth about the elections. The Chief Minister being patriotic or not has no place for our present predicament in Sierra Leone. Justice first and rest will follow afterwards.
Thanks Mr David sengeh for your apology but we cannot accept because we want back our true credible results of our elections by so doing we will know next what to do
Thanks so much doctor sengeh
I hope this corrupted APC members will understand this simple statement
This issue goes beyond any particular political party, like the APC. Apologies can never be a substitute for the unyielding demand for truth and accountability. To think otherwise is a stark oversimplification, and as the saying goes, “An apology can never replace the truth and can never fix the problem in the absence of the truth.” This phrase starkly reminds us that a mere apology falls woefully short when it comes to addressing deep-seated issues.
In a world where the notion of “Just apologize and you are free to go” held great weight, our elaborate systems of justice and law enforcement would serve little purpose. But this is far from reality. Mr. Chief Minister, and those who endorse this perspective, must seriously reflect on the far-reaching ramifications of their stance.
Are they daring to imply that it’s permissible to manipulate elections, offer a shallow apology, and then expect society to unquestioningly move forward? Is this the Sierra Leone we wish to embrace? Does the Sierra Leone Constitution, designed to safeguard justice and fairness, now lie in tatters, stripped of its significance?
The timeless wisdom of the Holy Quran, which asserts that “Falsehood will never take the place of the Truth,” serves as a resounding and unwavering reminder. It emphasizes the irreplaceable value of upholding the truth and the dire consequences of ignoring it.
We must all be acutely aware that judgment is an inevitable reckoning, and the comforts of today may prove to be fleeting and inconsequential. The notion that an apology, in this context, pertains solely to spoken words and not the nefarious actions, such as election manipulation corroborated by the EU Report, is deeply troubling. Are we, as a nation, allowing ourselves to be deceived or trampled upon by those in positions of authority? Is the welfare of the people being sacrificed on the altar of self-interest for the few?
The bottom line is this: the pursuit of truth and justice cannot be supplanted by apologies, and society must not accept this as the new norm.
Majority supporters of APC home and abroad are evidently a disappointment and disgrace to education universally. What’s so difficult APC to understand from the apology of chief minister for God sake? So simple and clear. What-a-.mess APC.
The CM indeed apologized, but however he is hoping for other parties mainly the APC to do same in the interest of our country
Chief minister please give us our results by polling station before you apologize
Bring back our democracy 🙏🙏 please maad Bio
Pathetic
We are not going to allow this type of apologize at all.who so ever you call yourself,if there is no data , let us rerun the elections period. Sierra Leone nowadays we are not stupid. So let rerun the elections.
