Minister of Youth Affairs Ibrahim Sannoh has launched a blistering attack on the CEO of popular social media blog BORN2BLOG, Sahr Memphis, accusing him of “irresponsible blogging of extortion” and reminding him of his previous detention over cyberbullying allegations.
The exchange began after BORN2BLOG posted criticism of Minister Sannoh’s performance, suggesting that President Bio should sack him and praising his predecessor, Mohamed Orman Bangura.
“A whole Minister of Youth dae cam na social media for cam attack we cos we question e performance,” BORN2BLOG wrote in a post. “Nor wonder den bin sack u na SLRSA mark we word you will be sack sooon.”
The blog also claimed that most of the initiatives Minister Sannoh is implementing were left behind by former Minister Orman Bangura.
In a sharp rejoinder, Minister Sannoh dismissed the blogger, writing: “BORN TO BLOG, I don’t give free money to people like you who are a menace to your selves, for this same reason you were detained by DG Yankuba Bio and you are not even ashamed of such.”
He continued: “If your sustenance depends on your irresponsible blogging of extortion, then I wish you well. The evidence is below, you can continue your defamation which is also cyber bullying but you ain’t worth it.”
The Minister’s reference to “evidence” appears to relate to a leaked chat transcript that previously surfaced during Memphis’s detention in November 2025, purportedly showing him negotiating a payment to suppress a story .
Mohamed Orman Bangura served as Minister of Youth Affairs for approximately seven years before being relieved of his duties in a cabinet reshuffle. While no official reason was given for his removal, Bangura had previously served as Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs before his elevation and was known for several youth-focused initiatives.
President Bio appointed Ibrahim Sannoh as the new Minister of Youth Affairs in late 2025. Sannoh has since embarked on an aggressive agenda, including:
Deepening development cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Seoul, where he proposed a “Tech Farm,” entrepreneurship support, fishing initiatives, and e-mobility solutions for youth empowerment
Hosting the new Chinese Ambassador Zhao Yong, with whom he discussed youth-focused collaboration, skills training, and innovation
Overseeing the passing-out ceremony of Batch Eight of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where he described the programme as a “living bridge between education and nation-building”
Engaging Leone Rock Mining Group to advance youth employment and skills development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities
Participating in a Ramadan iftar programme organized by the Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı in Freetown
Sahr Memphis, the CEO of BORN2BLOG, was detained by the Sierra Leone Police at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in November 2025 over allegations of cyberbullying and misinformation .
The detention stemmed from publications made by the blogger concerning the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) and its Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio. Memphis had alleged that a container had “vanished” from the Queen Elizabeth II Quay, an allegation the Ports Authority publicly denied .
New allegations emerged during that detention, with media influencer Prezo Koroma claiming that evidence against Memphis was “overwhelming,” including recordings of Memphis allegedly demanding money and testimonies from other individuals who claimed to have been blackmailed through the BORN2BLOG platform .
A leaked chat transcript purportedly showed Memphis negotiating for a payment, with one message reading: “The moment den ge something bra case don don we nr go blast again” .
Hon. Laycon, in a public statement, accused Memphis of “digital blackmail” and warned that his actions violated the Cyber Security and Crime Act of 2021 (Part III, Section 44), which carries penalties including fines up to Le 50,000,000 or imprisonment for up to five years .
The SLPHA issued a disclaimer acknowledging the blog’s statements but emphasizing that “any inquiries or criticisms directed towards our Authority should be approached with respect and constructive intent” .
In a separate post, BORN2BLOG praised former Minister Orman Bangura, writing: “Leh God Continue for bless Hon. Mohamed Orman Bangura for e good work na Ministry of Youth for 7years way na u foundation, project eh Legacy Sannoh da enjoy right now… Orman watin u do for Ministry of Youth na Heaven u reward dae ya.”
