The Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr  has announced her participation as part of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party’s delegation to the African Political Parties Summit, taking place from August 12 to 14, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The Mayor made this disclosure in her Facebook post.

The APC delegation, led by Acting National Chairman Amb. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, will participate in plenary sessions, strategic forums, and the official launch of the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI) — a new platform to promote sustained inter-party engagement, capacity building, and governance reforms across the continent.

Convened under the patronage of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Summit brings together heads of state, political party leaders, governance institutions, reform advocates, and policy actors for high-level discussions on the future of democracy and development in Africa.

Organized by the Africa Governance Centre in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, the event is being held under the theme “From Politics to Prosperity: Strengthening Inter-Party Collaboration for Africa’s Development and Economic Transformation.” More than 100 political parties from over 50 African and Caribbean countries are represented.

The Mayor described the event as “an interesting and impactful exchange of ideas,” highlighting its potential to strengthen partnerships and shape Africa’s democratic and economic future.
