The appointment of APC strongman Hon. Dr. Alhaji Abubakar SIDIQUI Khan by HE. President Julius Maada Bio as Resident Minister North/West Region, has sparked firestorm both home and abroad especially amongst his APC party supporters.

Hon. Alpha Khan has been called all sorts of ugly names which for ethical reasons I couldn’t mention in this article. They have outrightly condemned and castigated him for accepting the appointment from president Bio simply because, he’s APC.

So far, official records from the APC party secretariat still shows Hon. Alpha Khan as a very senior member of the party.

Meanwhile, sources very closed to Hon. Dr. Alpha Khan has further maintained that, he is still APC and has no plans to resign or defect to the SLPP as peddled by some ill motivated and unpatriotic people.

They clarified that; Hon. Dr.  Alpha Khan is graciously accepting the invitation of President Bio purely as a patriotic citizen of Sierra Leone who’s ready to serve his country at any given point in time, and no matter which political party is in power.

Hon. Alpha Khan will be serving his country and not SLPP, they confirmed.

Justifying the reason for the appointment of Hon. Alpha Khan, the presidential spokesman, Yusuf Keketoma Sandy said; it is in line with the president’s agenda for national cohesion and inclusive governance thereby giving every well-meaning Sierra Leonean the opportunity to serve his or her country irrespective of political party affiliation, tribe, color or region.

Meanwhile, the APC party is yet to make any official reaction on this latest appointment of one of their most senior members by President Bio.

Political commentators and legal scholars are asking the question whether Dr. Alpha Khan has violated the dreaded Anti Party Activity Clause of the APC December 5, 1995 Constitution?
