Alfred Minkailu Koroma, a member of the All People’s Congress (APC) Communications Team, has raised concerns about the future of the Tripartite Committee, warning that the body is “at the brink of collapse” due to what he describes as missed implementation deadlines and deviations from its agreed terms of reference.

Koroma stated that several key recommendations developed by the committee were tied to specific timelines, many of which he says have already passed without the required actions being taken.

According to him, all recommendations were expected to be fully implemented before the first quarter of 2026 to ensure progress on reforms, particularly those connected to electoral laws.

He cautioned that failure to meet these deadlines could make certain electoral-related reforms impossible to implement within the intended timeframe. Koroma further accused the government side of shifting away from commitments laid out in the committee’s terms of reference, although he did not provide specific examples in the latest statement.

The Tripartite Committee established following political dialogue was tasked with reviewing electoral processes, examining challenges from the 2023 elections, and proposing reforms aimed at strengthening Sierra Leone’s democratic institutions. Its work has been closely monitored by political stakeholders, civil society organizations, and development partners.
