Internal disagreements within the All People’s Congress (APC) Southern Region have come to the forefront, with party members urging reconciliation and unity ahead of the 2028 general elections.

On Sunday, 7 December 2025, the APC Southern Regional Executive, led by Chairperson Haja Isatu Bah Kamara, held a press conference at the party’s regional office in Bo, Kakua Chiefdom.

The meeting, attended by regional executives, district coordinators, and party members, addressed growing concerns over the party’s internal cohesion.

Chairperson Kamara opened the forum by highlighting several challenges facing the party, including strained relations between regional and district structures, allegations of indiscipline, and dissatisfaction over participation and accountability within the party.

Kamara also voiced concerns about what she described as persistent intimidation and internal resistance, revealing that she had lodged a complaint against Hon. Legacy Sankoh, a senior APC member, with the relevant authorities. However, she noted that no visible action had been taken on the matter.

At the press conference, several party members expressed frustration over the continued absenteeism of Hon. Sankoh and other senior executives from regional and district activities.

They argued that such absences were undermining coordination and effectiveness at a critical time for the party as it prepares for the 2028 elections.

The meeting also provided updates on the ongoing construction of the APC Southern Regional Office in Kanga, along the Bo-Kenema Highway.

While progress on the project was acknowledged, disagreements surfaced over the appointment of the project manager. Some party members contended that the selection process had lacked broad consultation, further fueling internal discontent.

In response to the allegations, Hon. Legacy Sankoh issued an audio statement rejecting the claims made against him, labeling them politically motivated and unfounded.

He also addressed concerns surrounding the appointment of the project manager, stating that the opposition to the decision came from a minority within the party.

Despite these tensions, many members at the press conference called for unity and reconciliation. Santigie Bangura, a long-time APC supporter, urged party members to set aside personal grievances and focus on strengthening the party in preparation for the 2028 elections.

Calls for intervention from the APC National Executive were also raised during the event. Madam Kadiatu Sankoh appealed for swift action to restore harmony and improve working relationships within the southern region, stressing that the party’s interests should take precedence over individual disputes.

Similarly, Madam Salay Conteh called on party elders to develop a structured reconciliation plan, warning that unresolved internal issues could undermine the APC’s electoral prospects.
