The 2023 Presidential running-mate of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah otherwise known as Chericoco has disclosed that he and his entourage were, this week Prevented to have unhindered access to some areas and chiefdoms within the Kenema District to continue with their ongoing campaign trail across the country for the upcoming June 24 general elections, following a reported stand-off between them and some supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples’ Party (SLPP) along Hanga Road in Kenema City and other parts within that district.

According to Hon Chernor Bah his convoy was blocked by some personnel of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and diverted to another route on the official day of campaigning for the APC in that part of the country, according to the 2023 campaign timetable released by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).

Speaking to supporters during the standoff, the APC 2023 presidential running-mate noted that he had alerted the hierarchy of the SLP about this latest ugly incident in Kenema District, adding that the said incident has caused panic and fear among members and supporters of the APC as, according to him, SLPP thugs are allegedly using all kinds of dangerous weapons to attack APC supporters.

However, Chericoco disclosed that they were unable to carry on their campaigners because they were supposed to have access to all the areas and communities within the entire Kenema Districts.
