The Jagaban Foundation in Freetown has officially dispelled rumors circulating on social media about the alleged arrest and molestation of Sheikh Mohamed Ormodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 12, 2024, the Foundation described the claims as completely baseless, scandalous, and crafted to tarnish the reputation of the All People’s Congress (APC) politician and philanthropist.
According to the release, audio clips falsely claimed that Jagaban was detained, interrogated, and had his passport confiscated by authorities. However, the Foundation clarified that Jagaban has never been arrested or questioned and remains committed to upholding the peace and development of Sierra Leone.
The statement quoted Jagaban as saying, “I believe in Allah, as He is my strongest pillar, and nobody can bring down or destroy another human being without His approval.” He further denounced the rumors as malicious attempts to undermine his efforts to support the country during challenging times. “I have been praying for Sierra Leone to have God-fearing leaders. Our people do not deserve the suffering they are going through,” he added.
The Foundation confirmed that Jagaban has returned safely to the United States, where he continues to oversee his family and business operations. During his recent stay in Sierra Leone, Jagaban actively engaged with stakeholders, providing critical support to vulnerable communities.
The Foundation also urged those spreading the false information to cease such activities, emphasizing the potential harm these rumors could cause to the Kamara family and Sierra Leoneans in general. They called on detractors to prioritize national progress over character assassination, concluding with a plea for integrity and unity in addressing the nation’s challenges.
