Gento Kamara, a mayoral candidate for the SLPP,  has in a video on socia media claims that he achieved millionaire status in the UK during the late ’90s in his twenties.

He pledges to generate $500 million for Sierra Leone and create over 15,000 jobs for the people of Freetown if elected mayor. Gento asserts that his company is currently valued at $200 million.

According to Gento between 1998 and 1999, he earned his first £1 million in London and acquired his initial property. Those were challenging times when Black individuals often felt marginalized in London.

He mentions his involvement in mobile phone shops and expanding his property investments to Manchester, where he could buy properties for £4,000.

Gento elaborates on his journey, highlighting his ventures in Burnley, located 18 miles outside Manchester, where he acquired properties at low prices.

Reflecting on his progress, Gento emphasizes his return to Sierra Leone and the growth of his business.

He expresses his commitment to the people of Freetown and Sierra Leone, disclosing his ongoing project aimed at employing over 15,000 individuals.

Gento believes that this initiative will help alleviate congestion in Freetown, as he plans to relocate the workforce to the peninsular area. He anticipates bringing approximately $500 million annually to the country through his efforts.

He proudly states that the Gento Group, his business, is currently valued at over $200 million.

The businessman turned politician stated that he started from scratch and takes pride in his accomplishments.

Despite facing criticism and attempts to manipulate his words, particularly in Creole, Gento said he remains focused on his goals.

He clarifies that he speaks from the heart and adjusts his language to connect with the people of Freetown, using both English and Creole. He that he believes in clear communication and emphasizes that his intentions are unambiguous.

Gento reminisces about the Freetown he grew up in, highlighting the fond memories and strong connection it holds for the people.

He criticizes attempts to misrepresent him through selective editing and manipulative tactics, emphasizing his self-awareness and confidence in his ability to communicate effectively.

Gento reinforces his determination to succeed, having made money in the UK and now focusing on making a positive impact in Freetown. He dismisses any detractors and keeps his eyes fixed on winning the election.
