Dr. Richard Konteh, a prominent figure and former flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), officially declared his intention to lead the party in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to Vantage Newspaper, Konteh emphasized his dedication to fostering harmony within the APC as the country heads into its next electoral cycle.

Konteh, who has long been a key member of the APC, highlighted his extensive experience and leadership achievements as a solid foundation for his bid. “I have the track record to become the next leader of the APC,” he stated confidently.

Known for his strong commitment to youth empowerment, he proudly shared, “Many young people who have passed through me have achieved great success, and I am incredibly proud of them.” This dedication to mentoring and uplifting the youth has earned him widespread recognition.

A founding member of the Network for Collaborative Peacebuilding in Sierra Leone, Konteh played an instrumental role in the country’s peace process, contributing to the negotiation of Sierra Leone’s peace agreement during a time of national turmoil. His leadership efforts also extended regionally and internationally, with significant involvement in the West Africa Civil Society Forum and the ECOWAS Parliament.

In addition to his civil society contributions, Konteh has a proven track record in government service. His time in key positions, including as Minister of Finance and Minister of Trade and Industry, saw him champion policies that supported small businesses, empowered women, and created job opportunities for youth, ultimately benefiting countless families across Sierra Leone.
