The Executive Director and Chairperson of Campaign for Good Governance and National Election Watch (NEW) Marcella Samba Sesay flew out of Sierra Leone late of Friday.

Details of her trip is currently unknown but NEW disputed rumours about their Chairperson through a Facebook post that she has left the country.

“We are all good. Alive and kicking,” NEW said on their official Facebook page with a photo of Sesay and some staff.

“See you, Sierra Leone. I love you dearly. My country, my home,” Sesay also twitted from her official account.

NEW faced criticisms from politicians rooting for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) after they released analyses of 24 June polls results that were not in tandem with the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone’s (ECSL) data.

NEW predicted that the presidential result would end in a runoff with the incumbent Julius Maada Bio leading.

However, ECSL announced Bio as winner on Tuesday with 56 percent avoiding a runoff with the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Samura Kamara.

Bio was sworn in hours after the results were announced by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Konneh.

The President, in his speech, called for unity among locals while extending an olive branch to his main contender, Kamara.

But APC Parliamentarian, Abdul Kargbo confirmed that they will not accept Bio’s request until their demands have been met by the ECSL.
