In an interview on SLBC, Sidi Yahyah Tunis, the National Publicity Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), expressed his frustration over the alleged negligence of the former APC leader, Dr. Samura Kamara, in advocating for voters’ rights during their engagement with the moral guarantors.

“We spoke, but he didn’t. He didn’t say a word—not about electoral justice, not even mentioning the people outside protesting for him because of what he had told them,” Tunis stated, highlighting Dr. Samura Kamara’s perceived lack of action.

Tunis further explained that the party’s position was clear: they disagreed with the results of the 2023 elections and believed disaggregated data should be produced, with a call for a re-run of the elections.

“The fact is, that’s why we went to Bintumani—to engage in dialogue. We reached an agreement with eight resolutions, which are now being implemented,” he said.

Tunis emphasized that the resolutions focused on electoral review processes, which formed the basis for the Tripartite Committee. He noted that the party felt accountable to their supporters, especially those protesting outside for electoral justice.

“They were outside protesting while we were inside engaging with the moral guarantors. Our former leader and flag bearer was also present. But throughout the two hours of deliberation, nothing was said about electoral injustice, no mention of a re-run or re-election. The discussion was mainly focused on the implementation of the agreement,” Tunis continued.

He added, “We communicated this to our membership, and still, nothing about electoral justice came up. Dr. Samura Kamara said nothing—no mention of electoral justice or the people outside protesting for him.”

Tunis concluded by addressing criticisms from supporters who accused them of selling out, stating, “It’s a facade as far as we are concerned.

I’ve been in every meeting, and I can say that discussions about electoral justice only happen within the APC. But when we sit with the government and the international community, there’s no such discussion.”
