The Sierra Leone People’s party (SLPP) has reacted to the violent incident that occurred in the capital on Sunday 26th November, 2023.

In a Press statement released on Monday 27th November, the SLPP recalled the unfortunate incident that unfolded in Freetown which lead to the loss of important personalities of the nation.

It went on to condemn the act which they deemed as premeditated violent acts in their entirety and urged the Sierra Leone Police to swiftly investigate and bring all collaborators and perpetrators to justice.

The SLPP noted the democratic gains the country has enjoyed over the years, adding that the party wishes to maintain that path. It thanked the security forces, especially the Sierra Leone Police, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, and the Sierra Leone Correctional Service for their rapid response to quell the unsavory situation.

“We remain grateful to these forces for their bravery and gallantry in putting the attacks and the assailants under control.” Said the SLPP

The party further re-echoed the address of its Leader and the President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio and called on all Sierra Leoneans to embrace peace and unity.

It went on to advise all Sierra Leoneans to stay vigilant and go about their normal business as they assured of utmost security from the security forces.

The party concluded by extending its heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen personnel and prayed that their soul find peace.
