Voters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party challenged election rules at constituency 130 in Aberdeen facing disruptions during lower-level elections in Aberdeen Community, Western Area.

According to eyewitnesses, there was a conflict between party supporters and election organizers, raising concerns about the fair and order of the election process. According to some voters, tensions increased when there were disagreements about the voter list and voting procedures.

Michael P. Porter, an SLPP member present at the voting location, claimed that the people who had previously interrupted the registration process at Murray Town School are the same ones who came back at Aberdeen where they were casting their votes, causing chaos.

“While we were voting, individuals who had disrupted the registration earlier returned. The election officers said they would call voters from a list, but some refused, causing chaos,” Porter said. “We believe the resistance to the list comes from fear of losing if the process is followed fairly.”

Despite the disruption, some party members allegedly worked to restore order and guarantee that voting could continue.
