Former Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Kandeh Yumkella has congratulated President Julius Maada Bio on his re-election as President of Sierra Leone.
Despite losing his Parliamentary Seat in the 2023 multitier elections, Dr. Yumkella tweeted, “we humbly accept the people’s verdict. Heartfelt congratulations to @presidentBio and the progressive Alliance on this resounding victory. May the Almighty guide you, Mr. (Clonazepam) President to govern with inclusivity for all Sierra Leonean.”
Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio won a second term in office, receiving 56.17% of ballots cast and narrowly clearing the threshold for avoiding a runoff in the West African nation, electoral officials said Tuesday.
Main opposition candidate Samura Kamara immediately disputed the results showing he had received 41.16% of the vote in Saturday’s election.
“It is a sad day for our beloved country,” Kamara tweeted after the announcement. “It is a frontal attack on our fledgling democracy. These results are NOT credible and I categorically reject the outcome so announced by the electoral commission.”
The people of sierra leone are not happy, we vote for change our voices are not hard, really heart-rending
May be KKY will be awarded with second vice president position which is not new in our history as a nation. APC did that during the reign of Siaka Stevens
Our votes are not reflected in this results, we are so disappointed in the ECSL for stealing our votes.
The voice of the people is the voice of God. The people have spoken, we are appealing to the losing party to swallow their pride and join the bandwagon. Salone is the only home we have and we should not tear it apart.
