Bai Burreh Warriors FC secured their first victory of the 2024/25 Leone Rock Premier League season with a resounding 4-1 triumph over Mighty Blackpool.
The match, held at New Port Loko Field, on February 13, saw an impressive performance from the Warriors, who managed to break their winless streak with a dominant display.
The Warriors took control early, with a goal coming in the dying seconds of the first half. Mohamed S. Mansaray replaced Momoh Bangura just before the 45-minute mark, and it was his involvement that saw the breakthrough.
Capio Bangura earned a yellow card in the 42nd minute but redeemed himself by scoring in the 66th minute, doubling his side’s advantage. Koleko Prospeere added to the tally with a goal in the 60th minute, and Mohamed Kamara sealed the deal with a strike in the 67th minute, leaving the Mighty Blackpool side with little to respond.
Blackpool had their moments, with Sulaiman Mansaray being shown a yellow card in the 58th minute before he finally got on the scoresheet with a goal in the 76th minute. Despite his effort, the Warriors remained unyielding and continued to dominate.
Substitutions played a significant role in the match, with Foday Kpara and Abu Bakarr S. Sesay replacing Mohamed Lamin and Bureh G. Koroma for Mighty Blackpool in the first half, while Prince Cole came on for Fatmata Saidu Kamara in the second.
Despite the valiant effort from Mighty Blackpool, Bai Burreh Warriors showed resilience and skill, maintaining control of the game throughout. With this crucial win, the Warriors will look to build on this momentum as the league progresses.
