Mighty Blackpool FC registered their third win of the season with a 1-0 victory against Luawa FC on Thursday afternoon at the Approved School playing ground.

Blackpool continues their good run in the league with Mohamed Lamin Turay’s late goal that earns them a narrow 1-0 win over the home team.

The striking forwards of both teams came close with some possible chances to score in the match, but the defensive work rate from either side was immaculate.

It took Mighty Blackpool 88’+ minutes to break into the defensive area and netted the only goal against Luawa FC who were brilliant throughout the match with excellent teamwork.

“Today we did well. Solid in all areas and conceded a silly goal in the 88 minutes. Imagine the ball bouncing towards the goal late in the match. It was disappointing, but we will put ourselves together and do our assignment properly before our next fixture”, Luawa FC chairman, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai.

It was an important victory for the Tis-Tas Boys who reclaimed the second spot on the league table with 12 points from 6 matches, 2 points behind first place Bo Rangers and the same points with third place, East End Lions.

Blackpool has got 3 wins and 3 draws from 6 matches, scoring a total of 7 goals to become one of the title contenders within the top five in the league.

“Great match and a brilliant performance from our players. We came here thinking that it will be an easy win for us, but Luawa FC showed resilience and quality. They were good on the ball and they made it difficult for us to score”.

“We tried so many times to score but they defended well. Thanks to Turay for the late goal. He scored at the right time. His goal was the only difference today and we are lucky to walk away with a vital win and all 3 points”, Samuel Samura.

Meanwhile, some fans of Mighty Blackpool turned their frustration on the coaching staff earlier in the match for benching some of the players who they believed could be better starters in the squad, and they have the capabilities to pioneer the team to victory.

The Tis-Tas boys will be going away to Wusum Stars FC in Makeni for their next match which is scheduled to play on Sunday 8th January 2023, at the Wusum playing field.
