Bo Rangers and East End Lions are set to receive $50,000 USD each for participating in the 2024/25 Champions League and Confederation Cup

According to reports from Cairo, this is the first time the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has offered financial assistance to clubs in this stage of the preliminary round. Previously, Clubs needed to reach the Group Stages to be eligible to share the overall prize money.

Following the promise of Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to enhance club competitions and offer greater financial support to clubs, each club participating in the Preliminary Stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will be awarded USD 50,000.

The First Preliminary Round begins with first leg matches scheduled between 16-18 August, followed by return legs from 23-25 August 2024.

This is the first time CAF has offered financial assistance to Clubs at this stage of the Competition.

Over the past two years, the CAF Executive has significantly increased its investment in African club football:

The champions of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League now receive USD 4,000,000, up from USD 2,500,000 in 2022.

The champions of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup now receive USD 2,000,000, an increase from USD 1,200,000 in 2022.

Last year, clubs benefited from a financial boost provided by the African Football League, which offered a total prize pool of USD 8,000,000.
