East End Lions secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Kamboi Eagles Football Club in a captivating five-goal encounter at the Approved School Field on Friday evening, propelling them to the top of the Leone Rock Premier League table.

The home side, known as the Killers, drew first blood in the 6th minute when the prolific Musa Noah Kamara found the back of the net. However, Kamboi Eagles responded just before halftime, with Frank Alusine leveling the score in the 43rd minute.

The second half saw a flurry of action. In the 70th minute, an own goal by Kamboi Eagles’ Idrissa Kargbo put East End Lions back in the lead. Five minutes later, midfielder Alusine Dumbuya extended the home team’s advantage to 3-1.

Despite a late consolation goal from Kamboi Eagles’ Abubakar Sidibay in the second minute of added time (90+2), it was not enough to salvage a point for the visitors.

The match also saw disciplinary action, with both Kamboi Eagles’ head coach Jack and his assistant Kallon receiving red cards following their second yellow card offenses.

East End Lions’ goalkeeper, Ibrahim Barrie, making his debut for the club, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, which included several crucial saves.

This victory marks East End Lions’ second win in their last four encounters with Kamboi Eagles, both secured during Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara’s two spells with the club in 2022 and 2025.

Crucially, this result sees East End Lions leapfrog Bhantal to take the coveted first position in the Leone Rock Premier League standings. The Killers now boast 32 points from fifteen matches played.

Bhantal’s first defeat of the season came at the hands of Abacha City, who secured a 1-0 victory courtesy of a 58th-minute free-kick from Morlai Dumbuya at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom on Friday. This loss drops Bhantal to second place with 30 points, also from fifteen matches.
