The Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) has successfully concluded a two-day FIFA Connect Seminar in Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone, aimed at strengthening club administration and player registration processes across the region.
The seminar, held from Wednesday, January 21 to Thursday, January 22, 2026, brought together officials from Division I and Division II clubs in the Kailahun, Kenema, and Kono districts. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to align regional football structures with international best practices.
Serving as Lead Facilitator, Sampha Hassan Kamara emphasized the importance of strict compliance with FIFA Standard Regulations, particularly the requirement for live documentation and registration of all active football players. He noted that the adoption of the FIFA Connect system has played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and protest-free organization of the Sierra Leone Men’s and Women’s Premier Leagues, while also providing clubs with a standardized framework for player registration.
Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, Director of Competitions at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), addressed participants on the need to align the country’s football ecosystem with CAF and FIFA regulations. He urged club officials to adhere strictly to the SLFA competition calendar and stressed that all Division I and II clubs must complete the FIFA Connect registration process before the commencement of upcoming competitions, including the FA Cup and their respective league seasons.
The Acting Chairman of the ERFA, Foday Anthony, commended the facilitators for the clear and concise delivery of the seminar. He also expressed appreciation to SLFA President Babadi Kamara for decentralizing the training to the regions, noting that the approach enhances accessibility and ensures wider participation. Mr. Anthony encouraged club officials to apply the knowledge gained in their daily administrative duties.
In his closing remarks, Abu Bakarr Sidikie Kallon, Secretary of the ERFA, thanked participants for their commitment and attendance despite various challenges. He also acknowledged the contributions of SLFA officials Sorie Ibrahim Sesay and Sampha Hassan Kamara for effectively delivering the training and introducing the new football ecosystem to stakeholders in the Eastern Region.
The seminar concluded with practical, hands-on sessions, during which participants used laptops and other electronic devices to gain direct experience with the FIFA Connect system, reinforcing the theoretical aspects of the training.
