A high-level FIFA delegation, led by Regional Development Manager Madame Fatou Camara and Technical Consultant Issaka Adamou, has concluded a successful inspection visit to Sierra Leone.
The delegation, which arrived on Monday, February 24th, completed its mission on Friday, February 28th, after conducting a thorough assessment of FIFA-funded projects. Their itinerary included inspections of newly constructed artificial turf pitches at the SLFA Academy, Approved School in Freetown, Bo Coronation Field, and Port Loko Town Field.
These pitches, part of FIFA’s ongoing commitment to improving football infrastructure, aim to provide high-quality playing surfaces for players at all levels. The delegation also evaluated the status of newly procured transport assets, including mini-buses and 36-seater customized team buses for the national male and female teams, which are expected to arrive shortly.
Following their comprehensive assessment, the FIFA representatives expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) under President Thomas Daddy Brima’s leadership. Madame Fatou Camara commended the SLFA for its efficient execution of FIFA projects during a debriefing session with President Brima and his executive committee.
“FIFA is committed to supporting Sierra Leone’s football development,” Madame Camara stated, announcing the availability of additional funding for further infrastructure projects. These projects will include new pitches, motorbikes, and other essential facilities to advance the game.
President Brima expressed his gratitude to FIFA for its continued support, emphasizing the SLFA’s commitment to transparency and accountability. He acknowledged that FIFA’s contributions complement the Sierra Leone government’s efforts to develop sports in the country.
“We will continue to work diligently to ensure the smooth execution of all projects in alignment with FIFA’s policies and standards,” President Brima assured the FIFA officials.
The successful completion of the inspection visit marks a significant step forward for football development in Sierra Leone, paving the way for enhanced infrastructure and increased opportunities for players nationwide.
