Kamil Conteh a born Sierra Leonean midfielder has signed a three years contract with Grimsby Town Football Club in Middlesbrough, England, on an undisclosed fee.
The player is to be at Blundell Park until 2026. His arrival has been confirmed after the agreement between the player and the club.
Middlesbrough made a profit from the player as they got him for free last summer from Watford. They only kept him for 12 months before this offer comes from Grimsby Town.
After he has penned his signature to be at Blundell Park the club said on their website, “I’m really pleased to have signed Kamil. He was on our wish list for some time, certainly over the summer and at the end of last season when we watched him a few times. “He really impressed us then, so he’s been an ongoing target for us. He’s a good midfield player; he can play off either foot and receives the ball well. He gets around the pitch extremely well and he is a young player that we feel has got so much potential”. “I’m really pleased to have secured his signature and we’ve fought off quite a lot of competition to get there. We had a Zoom meeting initially and then he came up to the training ground so quite a bit of work has gone into this signing. We’re really pleased that he felt it is the right time to progress his career and we’re delighted to have him.”
Conteh had a frustrating season at Middlesbrough during his 12-month stay as he couldn’t even make a first-team appearance. Just when the club attempted to demote him to the U21, the midfielder got an opportunity to join Gateshead on loan. At Gateshead, he got more first-team appearances, and he was an influential player in the squad.
Grimsby was one of the many League Two clubs that showed interest in signing the Sierra Leone international this summer.
Following Conteh’s impressive spell on loan at Gateshead in the National League, he was voted Fans’ Player of the Year and helped the club reach the FA Trophy final at Wembley.
