The Games and Athletics Teacher’s Association (GATA) recently organized training session for its members at Kailahun.
Games and Athletics Teacher’s Association (GATA) is an association established to coordinate and officiate all sporting (athletice soccer and other games) in the district.
The training, according to the chairman, Coomber Jusu Lansana, is geared towards updating and orienting their members to maintain professionalism in the game. He said, the association which has been established over ten years, has been in a cordial relationships with the ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in the district.
Chairman Lansana, continued that due to the hard work of the association, Kailahun district has been represented in both regional and national athletics competitions and has made significant progress in the said competitions.
The week-long training captured the attention of PHE teachers from across different schools in Kailahun.
Chairman Coomber Jusu Lansana also underscored the tremendous contribution and sacrifices they have poured into the association to help build the sportsmanship of the pupils across the district. He stressed on the impact and the unity of sport. He mentioned the various aspects of life that are influenced by physical activities (soccer and athletics) including spiritual, mental, social, and physical. He reassured that through the interventions of the association, sports in general will be upgraded and will take a new phase in Kailahun.
He however appealed to the regional and national and the ministry of sports to support the district by providing athletics equipments.
