Noel Kitamai Horton, the prominent candidate for the chairman position of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA), has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current irregularities occurring in the election process.

According to NewsFeed Sierra Leone, Horton, who currently serves as the General Manager of Luawa FC, voiced his concerns about the lack of inclusion of a police clearance requirement in the electoral guidelines.

He believes that this inconsistency is an attempt to disenfranchise candidates since obtaining such clearance cannot be accomplished within a day.

Horton’s exceptional leadership during his tenure as Chairman of the Union of Premier League Clubs, along with his other interventions, has earned him the support of top-tier clubs, division-one teams, and division-two teams in the region.

He is urging the Western Area Football Association to establish an election board to ensure a fair and inclusive electoral process.

He stated, “I will be the first person to congratulate whoever wins at WAFA as long as the process is free, fair, and inclusive. Although, by God’s grace, I am confident that I will emerge as the winner.”

In response to these genuine concerns, Sierra Leone Football Association President Thomas Daddy Brima has called on WAFA to adhere to the elections calendar and has pledged that no candidate will be disenfranchised.

He assured, “Nobody will be disenfranchised. There will be fair play in this election.”
