Mohamed Kallon, the head coach of the Leone Stars, has issued a firm ultimatum to football authorities demanding that it is either they increase his monthly salary to $20,000 or he will resign from his position.
Kallon, a celebrated national football icon and former captain of the Leone Stars, took on the coaching role less than six months ago, bringing hope and optimism to fans. However, recent salary negotiations have reached a critical impasse.
Sources close to the discussions revealed that the initial offer from the government was set at $10,000 per month, which was later increased to $15,000 after negotiations involving the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority (NSA), and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). Despite that increase, Kallon has rejected the $15,000 figure, asserting that his experience and value warrant a higher salary.
“I’m worth more,” Kallon reportedly stated to officials, referencing a $40,000 offer he claims is available from Liberia, along with potential interest from another unnamed country.
If the $15,000 offer were accepted, it would position Kallon as the highest-paid national team coach in Sierra Leone’s history. However, government officials, particularly within the Ministry of Finance, have indicated that this figure is final, citing fiscal constraints and the need to prioritize broader sports development initiatives.
Kallon’s appointment was seen as a move towards long-term stability, given his deep connections to the team and his legacy as one of Sierra Leone’s finest footballers. As the negotiations remain at a stalemate, the future of Kallon’s coaching role is uncertain.
Currently, the Ministry of Sports has not released any statements regarding further negotiations. The focus now shifts to Mohamed Kallon, who would decide whether to remain and negotiate or resign on principle.

I was thinking he should’ve tried to achieve something for the country as a tangible evidence or legacy, so if he requests for such amount of money, we will say yes he deserves it.
With the way Sierra Leone economy is, the masses are suffering, the government is doing any how they wish.

His license and professor worth more than that 15.000 $, there are African countries who need him urgently with better salary more than sierra leone, do you how much they paid some of these yours corrupt government officials doing nothing for the country, so he deserved better salary than those officials.
He doesn’t even need to caution anyone, individual or government, he has the option to leave. Enough of it , others are in the queue to accept the offer.
