Alhaji Dauda Musa Bangura, the former commissioner for the Independent Media Commission (IMC) and proprietor of the Owl Newspaper, who also happens to be the Uncle of popular Sierra Leonean football icon Musa Noah Kamara (Musa Tombo), has sent a strong message of discontent to the officials of the Leone Stars team-B, about a leaked video that has gone viral.
His message of resentment and outrage came shortly after the teams arrived from Liberia after their 2-1 defeat to Mali in the first leg of the CAF Africa Cup Of Nations (CHAN) final round of qualifiers.
In an interview with Alhaji Dauda Bangura, he underscored that he is angered over the video that went viral because it has shown a lack of professionalism, unity, and love. “We need to understand Musa’s situation and those sharing the video are not helping the young lad,” he said.
Alhaji Dauda Bangura further stated that he condemns the actions of his nephew (Musa N. Kamara) completely and that the SLFA should also take disciplinary actions against him if the need arises. He added that despite his condemns the actions of Musa, he also understands that Musa is not in the right state of mind after his only goal against Mali was canceled – and nobody will be happy to hear such, especially when the fault was a silly one from the officials. He affirmed that he shared the pain with such a young talented striker.
Musa Noah Kamara got the consolation goal against Mali but it has been canceled – despite the coordinator of Sierra Leone Team-B, Victor Lewis having denied such.
He concluded that every Sierra Leonean has a role to play in making Musa N. Kamara a better player rather than spreading bad news that will discourage him.
He strongly demanded that the team management and SLFA should investigate to know who recorded and shared the video. “It is unprofessional on the side of the individual and that person should be disciplined”, he said.
Many Sierra Leoneans, including social media influencers and bloggers, have called on the SLFA to punish the individual that recorded Musa N. Kamara while he was venting his anger.
Popular blogger Hawanatu Konneh posted on her Facebook page that “you don’t put your fellow player under the bus that way, just to show his worse state and make a mockery of him in the public eye.” She continued that “most of you want to be like him, but it’s so unfair for you to record him, in his desperate state.
Sierra Leoneans have urged the team officials and the SLFA Let to put sentiments aside and focus on dealing with the situation with utmost importance.
