Although the Sierra Leone male national football team, were knocked of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, the team plans to honour their final fixture later on Sunday at 4pm in Monrovia, Liberia.

It became apparent days ago that the team will not qualify for the competition next year after being held to a draw by Chad and Zambia winning at home against Ivory Coast the following day. The results confirmed that Sierra Leone, even if they conjure a win against Zambia will not make it past third place —a position they currently sit with five points from five games.

Many Leone Stars fans were left disappointed as they failed to capitalise on winning both matches against the group minnows, Chad. Chad are bottom of the group with the two points they got from the two draws against Sierra Leone. However, some of their fans are expecting the team to cheer them one last time.

In a surprising turn of events, Zambia could finish the group as top if they win against Sierra Leone on Sunday. The Chipolopolo have 12 points after recording four wins from five games. Ivory Coast are with nine points after winning three and losing twice in five matches. They will play against Chad at home later today.
