The Liberia Football Association (LFA) is investigating a disturbing incident involving the Liberian champions, Determine Girls FC, while competing in the African Champions League Qualifiers in Sierra Leone.

A video circulating on social media allegedly shows an armed individual entering the team’s hotel, causing panic among the players. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, just hours before the team’s crucial match against Senegal’s Aigles De La Medina, scheduled for Sunday.

Grace Weah, the president of Determine Girls FC, posted a video of the chaotic scene on WhatsApp, implicating a uniformed army officer and other unidentified individuals. The LFA has confirmed receiving the video and is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness.

The football governing body has initiated contact with key officials, including the Liberia Head of Delegation, Anthony Denuika, Sierra Leone Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, and the WAFU Executive Director. Additionally, an LFA delegation led by the president has reportedly traveled to Sierra Leone to address the situation with local authorities and WAFU.

The incident has raised significant security concerns, with allegations suggesting a deliberate attempt to disrupt the Liberian team’s performance. Determine Girls FC needs a win today to clinch the tournament title.
