Sierra Leonean long-distance runner Augustine Sheku Momoh took the second position in Liberia Half Marathon Competition on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
The Liberia Marathon is Liberia’s only official long-distance road race. It is an extraordinary civic event, reflecting the endurance Liberians have shown over the years and the country’s successful efforts towards development.
It provides a unique chance for Liberian and international athletes to participate in a competitive running event of global standard.
Momoh who happens to be one of the oldest long-distance runners in Sierra Leone started his career in 2006.
He represented Sierra Leone in the Banjul Marathon in March 2022 where he took the 4th Position. Augustine had also won the Street child Sierra Leone half marathon with a very good time which got him the opportunity to access a Coopah digital coaching device, by a company based in England to help him improve his performance.
In an interview with Sierraloaded, he said “The government is paying less attention on the long-distance runners in the country and some big games like the Commonwealth and the Olympics.”
He appeals for support and sponsorship from the Sierra Leone government and private entities to help him excel on the global stage of a long-distance race
