Kailahun-based club, Luawa FC were able to secure a point against FC Kallon on Sunday in the Sierra Leone Premier League.
The match ended in 1-1 draw much to the delight of the Cacao Boys who are fighting relegation sitting in 15th position and a point away from the drop zone with only two games remaining.
Luawa went in front in the 13th minute with a low placed shot from striker, Nabieu Daffae.
The host, FC Kallon made several attempts to level the match but Luawa’s shot stopper, Hassan Turay made brilliant saves in the first half.
The Cavaliers entered into the match with their key man and Sierra Leone Premier League top scorer Alie Conteh.
Their Liberian striker, Emmanuel Gono was also absent serving a suspension after being red-carded against Old Edwardians but converted striker Musa Mansaray found the net after Saidu Kargbo played him a through ball.
The brilliance of the Cacao Boys’ defence was enough to halt attempts made by the host especially in the final third of the match.
Their captain, Ibrahim Fatorma was compact enough and won several aerial duels that could have landed them in trouble.
Luawa is still in 15th position but with two more points above the drop zone.
