Following their appreciating performance for their club in the CAF Zone A Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in Liberia back in August, four Mogbwemo Queens players have earned a national call-up to represent their various nations in the upcoming AFCON Qualifiers.
Among the four players are: Mariama Barrie (Guinea), who displayed her experience and attacking mindset at the SKD Stadium in Liberia.
Mahawa Traore, a young and determine shot-stopper (Guinea), bagged the player of the match award in CAF Zone A Women’s Champions League Qualifiers against A.S Mande of Mali.
“It is astonishing to see Traore get a call up in the 2024 Women’s AFCON qualifiers, giving her scintillating form that the goal keeper has been since arriving at the club,” the club said.
He said Sangay Moulton(Liberia), a sensational right back who can also be deployed as left back has contributed immensely in lifting the first ever women’s championship in Sierra Leone.
Mariama Sambo(Guinea Bissau), a creative and outstanding attacking midfielder, has yet to represent the badge in official matches due to an injury she picked-up in the WAFU Zone A U-20 tournament in Sierra Leone. She is now fully fit to start her job at the club.
The entire management, head coach and technical staff of the club said they are proud of them and believe that they will make Mogbwemo Queens proud.
