The Head Coach of Leone Stars, Mohamed Kallon, following their 1:0 defeat to Egypt, has recently named thirteen extra foreign based players that will be joining the National Team as a way of strengthening the team for their subsequent matches.

In his social media post, Kallon acknowledged that the difficulties in heading the team, stating that it was a hard decision for him to accept the Head Coach position because he said he would not be able to prepare the team in this short time for a standup football, asserting that to prepare the team, it requires three months for technical, tactical, and physical preparations.

In choosing the foreign based players that will be joining the team, he admitted that it is imprudent to call on twenty foreign players because he said ten will be left out, asking why should he bring players that would not be using.

He confirmed that the players that will be joining the team are Kwame Quee, Bakarr Yoko, Josh Koroma, Augustus Kargbo, Hindolo Mustapha, Alusine Pagal Koroma, Buya Kamara, Issa Kallon, Alex Bangura, Yayah Kallon, Mohamed Kabia, Osman Kakay, Rodney Michael, and many others.

Kallon confirmed that were players whom he wanted to he used but unfortunately, he did not get them because of some certain reasons. He mentioned Samuel Biko, Young James Kayamba of Star Sports, whom he said he was not able to used them due to a certain reason. He went forward to mention one of the top players in the Sierra Leone Premier League, Fobowah, whom he said does not meet the full requirements (100 and 10%) to join the team.

“Even though it was not the right time for me to pick up the job, because the time was not enough. This is the hardest ten days I have ever experienced in my life! Ten day without sleeping, until after the game,” Kallon asserted, stating that now that they have brings hope and belief to the people of Sierra Leone, now, they need to put pressure on themselves, emphasizing he needs to pressurize himself. He admitted, “I need pressure, I need negativity, I need criticism in order for me to stand on my toes to do the right thing, and I as I have pledged my love and loyalty Sierra Leone, I promise the people that I will uplift the National Team to the level where it’s supposed to be.”

To compete with other great Nations, and to qualify for major tournaments, he stated that he first needs to be honest with himself and his conscience, affirming that football is by performance, he chooses who performs well, stressing that he does not have a friend nor a child in the realm of football. “The the first day I was offered this job, nobody ever called my phone. Ministry has not called me nor friends or fans have requested for me to join a player in the team,” he affirmed, expressing thanks because he said it means they trust him with the team.

In relations to their previous match with Egypt, he expressed apology, admitting, “I take full responsibility… I just have to continue challenging the players to see if they can stay focused to handle pressure, then the next game will be able to progress to the next level.”
