The National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) have pledged closer cooperation to advance football development and support youth employment initiatives in line with the government’s Big Five Game-Changers agenda.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by newly elected SLFA President Babadi Kamara and his Executive Committee to the NSA Head Office in Freetown.
Welcoming the delegation, NSA Executive Director Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai congratulated Kamara and his team on their election victory. He encouraged the SLFA leadership to address constitutional issues raised by some FA members during the recent congress in Lungi. Abdulai also updated the SLFA on NSA projects, including the arrival of 30 sets of artificial turf from Denmark and progress towards establishing the National Sports Development Foundation.
“We are fully committed to working with the SLFA to promote football and create opportunities for young people,” Abdulai said, noting that the partnership aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for sports as a driver of national growth and youth empowerment.
In his remarks, Kamara described his election as an opportunity to serve the football community and the country. He reaffirmed that the SLFA recognizes the NSA as the regulatory authority for sports in Sierra Leone and intends to work in a coordinated and respectful manner.
“The National Sports Authority is our regulatory body, and we are ready to work together for the development of football in Sierra Leone,” Kamara stated. He added that visiting the NSA first was a sign of respect and acknowledgment of its oversight role, stressing that proper coordination and planning were essential for success on the field.
The meeting concluded with both institutions expressing a shared commitment to building a strong partnership aimed at ensuring football development benefits all Sierra Leoneans.
