Former Leone Stars player Mustapha Sama, popularly known as Pa Saffa has revealed that commitment to nation-building is the reason why he denied extending his service with the Kenya division two side Terror Squad FC despite preventing the team from relegating.
Pa Saffa played for Wellington People, Wusum Stars, Ports Authority, East End Lions, and football clubs in other African countries before trading his football career in Europe, Asia and North America is currently the technical director of the Star Sports Academy based in Freetown noting” It was brief but a remarkable spell with Terror Squad FC in Kenya both the management and the fans had wanted me to stay but I insist coming back home because it is the best decision for the nation after playing professional football and represented the national team I have to give back the experience that I acquired to help improve football in Sierra Leone” he avowed.
The former Wellington People and Terror Squad FC coach furthered that since he took over as technical director of Star Sports Academy which is established nine months ago only the Under-17 category has suffered a defeat while the Under-15 category remains unbeaten” the Under-15 category has secured a win against formidable sides including the National U-15, FC Kallon U-15 and still, the unbeaten run continues, the defeat our U-17 side suffered today in Makeni comes as the first-ever however it was a good journey and we have learned our lessons” he disclosed.
Mustapha Sama was also part of the East End Lions FC squad that won the 1999 Sierra Leone Premier League concluded that Star Sports Academy is currently on a provincial tour which has commenced in Makeni adding” this part of the plans to achieve our not too distant future goals which are to market the boys on the global stage and represent Sierra Leone in the various categories” Pa Saffa asserted.
