Sierra Leone’s rising swimming talent, Peter J. Bewie, will represent the country at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships in Romania this week.
He has arrived in Romania ahead of the World Aquatics Junior Championships, scheduled to run from 19-24 August 2025.
Bewie, nicknamed the “Sierra Dolphin,” is scheduled to compete in the 50-meter Breaststroke on Thursday and the 50-meter Freestyle on Saturday. The competition will feature top junior swimmers from across the globe, providing an opportunity for him to test his skills on an international platform.

Upon his arrival, Bewie described the experience as an honor. “This is a tremendous honor to represent Sierra Leone on such a prestigious platform. I am ready to give my best and make my country proud,” he said.
The event marks a significant milestone for Sierra Leone’s aquatic sports, reflecting the country’s growing involvement in global swimming competitions. The Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Association has voiced its full support for Bewie and called on citizens to show encouragement as he carries the nation’s colors on the world stage.

Hundreds of elite junior swimmers are expected to compete at the championships, which organizers say will provide an opportunity for emerging athletes to set new records and gain valuable experience.
