Fc Rising Football Club On April 28th, 2023 emerged as winners of the 7th edition of the StarBurst Park Equal Opportunity Tournament at Wusum field in Makeni.
After a 2-2 draw with Mena Queens FC during regulation time, the determined Rising Queens Football Club emerged victorious in an exciting penalty shootout.
Mena Queens FC started the game with high intensity, eager to defend their previous title as champions of the 6th edition. They managed to create multiple opportunities, but only two were successfully converted by the in-form Marian Jumu, giving them a 2-0 lead at halftime. Jumu was named the player of the tournament and top scorer with twelve (12) goals.
Despite this, Rising Queens FC showed their determination and resilience in the second half, and the introduction of midfielder Adamsay D. Sesay had a significant impact. Sesay scored from the penalty spot, bringing her team back into the game, and Khadija Fornah scored a late equalizer, leading to a post-game penalty shootout that Rising Queens FC won 3-0.
Rising Queens Football Club now holds the record for the most StarBurst Park Equal Opportunity Tournament victories, with four titles. As the champions of the seventh edition, they were awarded One Thousand Five Hundred Leones (NLe 1,500), while Mena Queens FC received One Thousand Leones (NLe 1,000) as the runner-up
