Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has announced a provisional 17-woman squad ahead of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Division 2 Africa Qualifier, scheduled to take place in Kampala, Uganda, from March 6 to 15, 2026.
Matches will be hosted at the Tbebe Cricket Oval, located approximately four kilometres from Entebbe International Airport. The tournament will bring together several African nations competing for qualification to the next stage of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup pathway.
According to CSL, the provisional squad was selected following a six-match trial process, which came after a 12-team Women’s U19 T20 youth league held in the fourth quarter of 2025. The selection process aimed to identify players with strong technical skills, match temperament, and development potential.
The players named in the provisional squad are: Ramatu Kamara, Hawa Kumba Kamara, Mary Kamara, Desmonda Coker, Katty Kamara, Mabinty Sama, Susan Sesay, Mariama Jalloh, Theresa Tommy, Ruth Ajabola, Isatu F. Sesay, Adama Kpundeh, Isatu A. Bah, Kadiatu Sawaneh, Isha K. Bangura, Christiana Lamin, and Kumba Mansaray.
CSL stated that the squad will undergo intensive training for most of February, after which a final 14-player squad will be confirmed for the tournament.
The team, known as the Junior Women’s Patriots, finished third behind Kenya at the 2024 edition of the same competition held in Kigali, Rwanda. In Kampala, Sierra Leone has been drawn in a group alongside Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique, and Cameroon.
The qualifier forms part of ongoing efforts by Cricket Sierra Leone to strengthen women’s cricket development at the youth level and improve the country’s competitiveness on the continental stage.
