Barely five (5) months after the end of the Algerian edition, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) already has listed Sierra Leone and 45 other countries for the 2024 CHAN Qualifiers.
Sierra Leone’s home-based Leone Stars will battle six other teams within the WAFU A zone. The competing teams comprise Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, and Mali.
The countries were released according to their region and Sierra Leone was listed in the WAFU A Zone alongside other countries
According to CAF, 8 nations will take part in the qualifications in the WAFU A zone, 7 in WAFU B, 7 in UNIFFAC, 11 in COSAFA, 9 in CECAFA, and finally 4 in the UNAF region.
The first-round first-leg matches will be played on September 22 and 24, 2023, and the return matches on October 6 and 8. The second round will be played on December 15 and 17 for the first leg and on December 22 and 24 for the return leg.
Finally, the dates chosen for the third and final round are March 8 and 10, 2024 (outward leg) and March 15 and 17, 2024 (return leg).
Sierra Leone defeated Cape Verde but succumbed to Mali in the last CHAN qualifiers.
