Sierra Leone’s featherweight boxing champion, Josefien Angel Betist, secured a gold medal at the AFBC Solidarity and Fraternity Boxing Gala in Tunisia, defeating the host nation’s Amal Mathloifi.
Expressing her joy, Josefien dedicated the victory to her country, saying it was an honor to represent Sierra Leone.
Her triumph highlights the support from the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Authority (NSA), and National Olympic Committee for the Sierra Leone Boxing Association.
After facing setbacks in previous international competitions, including the All-Africa Games and Olympic qualifiers, this win marks a major comeback.
The NSA congratulated Josefien, calling her achievement an inspiration for female athletes across the country.
