The Sierra Leone Chinese Boxing and Kyokushin Federation have presented trophies and certificates to Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and Sports Minister, Augusta Teima at the Ministry of Sports Conference Hall in Freetown.
The trophies and certificates signified the Federation’s achievement in the just-concluded National Ashihara Karate-Do Winter Camp 2024-25 and the Kyokushin Championship held in Japan and India.
Ashihara Karate is a contemporary martial art known for its practical techniques and flexibility in application. This style emphasizes adaptability, making it effective for real-world self-defence situations.
Founded by Hideyuki Ashihara in the 1980s in Japan, this style has gained worldwide recognition for its effectiveness in self-defence and its unique philosophy.
Similarly, Kyokushin Karate also originated in Japan and is considered one of the toughest and strongest forms of martial arts in the world. Belt testing in this style of karate serves as a rigorous assessment that challenges both mental and physical abilities. It is designed to push practitioners to demonstrate their skills, discipline, and understanding of the art, ensuring they are well-prepared for the next level of advancement.
Although karate is not a popular sport in Sierra Leone, the Federation will be hoping that their recent success will garner support from the government and sports lovers in the West African nation.
